MALUK, WEST SUMBAWA — Wednesday, 16 September 2026. Laurel Davien Hotel & Resort held a traditional Selamatan ceremony this morning at the hotel grounds, marking a meaningful milestone in the property's soft opening journey and seeking blessings for a safe and prosperous future for Maluk's newest hospitality destination.

The ceremony was graced by the Head of Pasir Putih Village, Maluk, Bapak Ahmadi Mahmudi Amin, accompanied by local community figures, as well as representatives of the hotel's ownership, led by Bapak Rosihan Taufik. Also in attendance was Bapak Askar DG KAMIS of Ara Hospitality Management, the management company entrusted by the owners to guide the property throughout its pre-opening phase.

The event was made even more meaningful by the presence of children from orphanages across the region, who joined the celebration alongside the entire team of Laurel Davien Hotel & Resort employees - a reflection of the hotel's commitment to growing together with the local community it calls home.

The Selamatan, a cherished tradition in Indonesian culture, is held to express gratitude and to ask for divine blessings. The morning's ceremony followed the full customary ritual, beginning with words of welcome from the hotel's management, followed by prayers led by local religious and community figures and the symbolic cutting of the tumpeng - a cone-shaped yellow rice dish representing gratitude and hope - performed by Bapak Rosihan Taufik, with the first portion respectfully presented to Bapak Ahmadi Mahmudi Amin as a gesture of appreciation to the people of Pasir Putih Village.

In his remarks, the Head of Pasir Putih Village welcomed the arrival of Laurel Davien Hotel & Resort as a positive development for the area, expressing hope that the property will bring lasting benefits to the local community — from employment opportunities to broader economic growth for Maluk and West Sumbawa.

Bapak Rosihan Taufik, representing the hotel's owners, thanked the village leadership, community figures, and the entire Laurel Davien team for their support and dedication throughout the pre-opening journey, expressing his aspiration for the hotel to become a source of pride for the region.

Ara Hospitality Management, through Bapak Askar DG KAMIS, reaffirmed its commitment to preparing Laurel Davien Hotel & Resort to the highest standards of hospitality - from comprehensive staff training and standard operating procedures to readiness for full operations - as the property moves steadily toward its official grand opening.

The ceremony concluded with a communal meal, where guests, community figures, orphanage children, and hotel employees shared the traditional selamatan dishes together in an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness.
